The Journal of Transportation Management Research (JOTMAR) aims to publish interdisciplinary academic studies focusing on the role, significance, and current challenges of transportation modes and the logistics sector within the global economy. The journal seeks to promote the production and dissemination of knowledge by encouraging original research that encompasses both theoretical and applied approaches in the fields of transportation and logistics.

JOTMAR provides a scholarly platform for academics, researchers, and industry professionals to engage with contemporary issues, exchange ideas, and access the latest developments in transportation policies, logistics, sustainable transportation, transportation systems management, and sectoral innovations. The journal strives to contribute to the advancement of the transportation and logistics sector at both national and international levels by presenting new perspectives and adding valuable insights to the existing body of literature.

The Journal of Transportation Management Research (JOTMAR) publishes theoretical and empirical studies in the field of transportation management and its closely related disciplines. The journal focuses on high-quality, original, and innovative academic research that encompasses all modes of transportation, including road, air, maritime, and rail.

JOTMAR welcomes contributions that address, but are not limited to, the following topics:

Transportation economics

Transportation policies and planning

Management of transportation enterprises

Tourism transportation

Supply chain and logistics management

Sustainable transportation practices

Intelligent transportation systems and technological advancements

Transportation infrastructure and investments

Urban mobility and public transport solutions

Encouraging interdisciplinary approaches, JOTMAR seeks to publish scholarly works that not only contribute to academic literature but also offer practical insights and policy recommendations for the transportation and logistics sectors.

In order for manuscripts to be considered for review in JOTMAR, they must strictly adhere to the formatting rules outlined below:

Template Requirement:
All submissions must be prepared using the official Article Template provided by the journal. Submissions that do not follow the template will not be processed.

Double-Blind Peer Review:
To ensure a double-blind peer review process, the main manuscript file must not contain any identifying information about the author(s), such as names, titles, affiliations, ORCID numbers, or email addresses.

Font and Size:
The entire manuscript must be written in Calibri font, with a 12-point font size.

Paragraph and Page Layout:

Text should be justified on both sides.

Left and right indentation: 0.5 cm

First-line indentation for paragraphs and headings: 1.0 cm

Paragraph spacing:

Before: 0 pt

After: 6 pt

Line spacing: 1.25 lines

Heading Styles:

Article title: Calibri Light, 14 pt, bold, and centered.

Main section headings: written in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS.

Subheadings: Only the first letter of each word should be capitalized (Title Case).

Footnotes and Acknowledgements:
If the article was previously presented at a conference/symposium or derived from a project or thesis, a * (asterisk) should be added at the end of the title and an explanatory footnote should be provided.

Publication Policy
The Journal of Transportation Management Research (JOTMAR) adheres to the principles of producing, developing, and sharing knowledge in a scientific and objective manner. All participants in the publication process (publisher, editor, reviewer, author) are expected to act in accordance with ethical standards at every stage. The publication ethics of the journal are based on the principles outlined in the "Directive on Scientific Research and Publication Ethics of Higher Education Institutions" in Türkiye.

JOTMAR is a peer-reviewed journal published biannually (April and October) by Ege University. The journal accepts articles written in Turkish and English. It publishes original research articles and review papers in all areas related to transportation and logistics across all modes of transport, including transportation economics, transportation policies, transportation management, and supply chain management.

Articles submitted to JOTMAR must not have been previously published or submitted elsewhere for publication. All authors are required to submit a Copyright Transfer Form upon submission. By doing so, authors confirm that their manuscript is an original work, that it does not contain any plagiarism, and that they individually contributed to the research and accept full responsibility for the content. They also declare that the manuscript has not been published, accepted, or submitted elsewhere.

No royalties or copyright fees are paid for manuscripts published in JOTMAR.

Authors are solely responsible for the scientific and legal content of their published articles. The views and opinions expressed in the articles belong to the authors and do not reflect the views of the journal or its affiliated institutions.

All submissions must comply with the journal’s Manuscript Formatting Guidelines. In addition, every manuscript undergoes a preliminary evaluation for similarity. In line with the journal’s ethical standards, submissions with a similarity rate higher than 15% (excluding the references section) as detected by plagiarism detection software will be returned to the authors without further review.

Manuscripts that meet the formatting and similarity requirements will be sent to at least two reviewers for evaluation of their content. JOTMAR applies a double-blind peer review process, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are kept confidential. Manuscripts receiving negative evaluations from reviewers will not be published. Manuscripts requiring revisions will be returned to the authors for necessary changes.

Ethical Guidelines
If a submitted study involves the collection of data from human participants via surveys, interviews, focus groups, experiments, or similar methods, or the use of such data for scientific or experimental purposes, an Ethics Committee Approval Document must be obtained prior to submission.

For studies that do not require ethics committee approval, authors are required to submit a declaration form stating that their study does not require such approval. This form is available in the “Forms” section of the journal website.
