The Effects of Logistics Performance on International Trade and Economic Growth in OECD Countries: Panel Time Series Analysis
Abstract
Logistics is one of the main sectors of strategic importance for the economic development of countries and logistics activities are among the most important factors that determine a country's competitiveness. Logistics has become the most important element of international trade and economic growth with globalization and competition increasing day by day. The development level of the logistics sector, which is directly linked to international trade and economic growth, increases the performance and success of countries in international trade. In line with this scope, this paper aims to examine the effects of logistics performance on international trade and economic growth in OECD countries. As a result of the analyses, it is determined that the logistics performance index of OECD countries has statistically significant and positive effects on international trade in the long term. Moreover, it is observed that there is a unidirectional causality relationship from economic growth to the logistics performance index, while there is a bidirectional relationship between the logistics performance index and international trade in OECD countries.

OECD Ülkelerinde Lojistik Performansın Uluslararası Ticaret ve Ekonomik Büyüme Üzerindeki Etkileri: Panel Zaman Serileri Analizi
Abstract
Lojistik, ülkelerin iktisadi kalkınmaları için stratejik öneme sahip temel sektörlerden bir tanesidir. Lojistik faaliyetler, bir ülkenin rekabet gücünü belirleyen en önemli faktörler arasındadır. Her geçen gün küreselleşme ve rekabetin artması ile birlikte lojistik uluslararası ticaret ve ekonomik büyümenin en önemli unsuru haline gelmiştir. Uluslararası ticaret ve ekonomik büyüme ile doğrudan bağlantılı olan lojistik sektörü gelişme düzeyi, ülkelerin uluslararası ticaretteki performansını ve başarısını arttırmaktadır. Bu kapsam doğrultusunda çalışmanın amacı, OECD ülkelerinde lojistik performansın uluslararası ticaret ve ekonomik büyüme üzerindeki etkilerinin incelenmesidir. Gerçekleştirilen analizler sonucunda, uzun dönemde OECD ülkelerinin lojistik performans endeksinin uluslararası ticaret üzerinde istatistiki olarak anlamlı ve pozitif etkilerinin olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bununla birlikte, OECD ülkelerinde lojistik performans endeksi ile uluslararası ticaret arasında iki yönlü bir nedensellik ilişkisi tespit edilirken, ekonomik büyümeden lojistik performans endeksine doğru tek yönlü bir nedensellik ilişkisi bulunduğu görülmüştür.
