Prof. Dr. Chong-Jin Oh is a distinguished academic and expert in Turkish and Central Asian studies. Born on 1974, in Seoul, Korea, he is currently a Full Professor at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS), where he serves as the Chair of the Department of Turkish-Azerbaijani Studies and the Department of Turkish-Central Asia-Mongolian Studies at the Graduate School. Additionally, he holds professorial positions in the Graduate Schools of International Area Studies, International Relations, and Global Cultural Contents Studies at HUFS. Prof. Oh also serves as the Vice President of the Fulbright Korea Scholar Association.
Prof. Oh earned his Ph.D. in International Relations from Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey, in December 2006. He also holds an M.A. in International Relations from Eastern Mediterranean University in Cyprus and a B.A. in Turkish Studies from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.
Throughout his career, Prof. Oh has held several significant academic and administrative positions, including Director of the Critical Foreign Language Education Center at HUFS and Dean of External Development and Dean of the Office of International Affairs at HUFS. He was a Fulbright Scholar and Visiting Professor at the State University of New York, where he taught and conducted research in the Department of History.
An esteemed researcher, Prof. Oh has published extensively on topics related to the Turkic world, including Turkey's foreign policy, Central Asian politics, and the socio-cultural dynamics of Turkic communities. His work has appeared in numerous leading academic journals and he has authored several books on these subjects.
Prof. Oh is fluent in English and Turkish with intermediate proficiency in Azeri and Uzbek. His research interests include international relations, cultural studies, Turkish-Central Asia relations, Turkish foreign policy, East Asian politics, public diplomacy, and ethnic minority issues in Central Asia and the Turkic Republics.
A dedicated educator, Prof. Oh has taught a wide range of courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels, focusing on topics such as the geopolitics of the Middle East, identity politics in Turkey and Central Asia, and the socio-political changes in the Turkic world.
Prof. Dr. Chong-Jin Oh continues to be a leading figure in his field, contributing to the academic community through his research, teaching, and leadership roles at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies and beyond.
