Abstract

A Bibliometric Analysis on Digital Maturity Models

Year 2025, Volume: 18 Issue: 2, 99 - 113, 30.04.2025

Abstract

Digital maturity models are essential tools for organisations to assess and improve their digital transformation capabilities. These models provide a structured and holistic approach to assessing an organisation's digital transformation status in terms of various dimensions such as technology, organisation, culture, customers, etc. The purpose of this study is to conduct a detailed analysis of the research on digital maturity models. In this direction, academic studies in Scopus and Web of Science databases were analysed by bibliometric analysis method. English-language article-type publications in Scopus and Web of Science databases were systematically analysed in terms of maturity levels and dimensions of digital maturity models. The findings show that there has been an increase in the number of publications on digital maturity models since 2020 and that Germany and Turkey are among the countries that produce the most publications in this field. In the models examined, it was found that technology, strategy and organisation dimensions were mostly addressed. It is thought that the study will help researchers who want to conduct research in this field to identify potential areas to focus on for future studies by providing a comprehensive overview.
