Existentialism, emerged in Europe in the 19th century; alienated from society and its past, reflecting the iner worlds of restless individuals who have lost hope and trust, it is a movement of rebellion and search against a tradition in which subjectivity is accepted as the basic principle. Literature, on the other hand, has been one of the most powerful communication methods of the existentialism movement, which hasa concrete individualistic understanding with the opportunity to derscribe the individual and the life created by the individual’s character. Intense traces of the existentialism movement in Turkish literature were first seen in the 1950s generation artists. Feyyaz Kayacan, who is in this generation and even the leading artist of the generation, contributed significantly to the literary understanding of the period in terms of the existential influence seen in his stories called Şişedeki Adam (1957), Sığınak Hikâyeleri (1962), Cehennemde Bir Yusuf (1964), Gibiciler (1967), Hiçoğlu’nun Serüvenleri (1969) and Bir Deli Değilin Defterleri (1987).In the study; the outhor’s first story book Şişedeki Adam, has been studied in the context of existentialism.
