The publication process of the Istanbul Esenyurt University Faculty of Business and Management Sciences Journal of Social Sciences Research (ieJSSR) is based on the impartial production, development, and sharing of knowledge through scientific methods. It commits to preventing malpractices in publishing by adhering to academic principles and aligning with established academic and ethical standards. To ensure ethical standards, the international standards set by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) are taken into consideration for submitted scholarly articles.
The upload of an article by the author(s) via DergiPark for publication in ieJSSR initiates the submission process.
ieJSSR reserves the right to make corrections to submitted manuscripts, to publish or not to publish them.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE EDITORIAL BOARD
The ieJSSR Editorial Board (hereinafter, "the Editorial Board") and Editors/Assistant Editors are responsible for every article submitted to ieJSSR, and indeed for all processes after its publication.
The Editorial Board ensures the determination and implementation of journal policies such as publication, blind peer review, evaluation process, and ethical principles.
The Editorial Board's decision to send an article for peer review does not constitute a commitment to publish. Even if the peer review process concludes positively for publication, the decision of the Editorial Board and Editors/Assistant Editors is always required.
The Editorial Board promotes academic integrity. The Editorial Board guarantees the originality of written works by checking them through the iThenticate plagiarism prevention program before publication.
The Editorial Board always investigates allegations of plagiarism and misconduct related to published articles. For example, if an author plagiarizes from other works in their article, or uses copyrighted material of third parties without obtaining permission when required, or with insufficient notification, the Editorial Board reserves the right to take various actions, including retracting the article and notifying the head of the author's department, dean, and/or relevant academic institutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF EDITORS / ASSISTANT EDITORS
ieSBAD Editors/Assistant Editors are responsible for taking measures regarding intellectual property rights, unscientific/unethical conduct, and plagiarism during the article and journal publication process.
When making positive or negative decisions regarding articles, Editors/Assistant Editors consider the original value of the articles, their contribution to the field, the validity and reliability of the research method, clarity of expression, and the aims and scope of the journal.
Editors/Assistant Editors implement blind peer review and evaluation process policies, keep the identities of reviewers and authors confidential from each other during the evaluation process, and ensure that each article is evaluated impartially and within the specified timeframe. They undertake the correction of errors, inconsistencies, or misleading information in articles.
Editors/Assistant Editors ensure the protection of personal data within the scope of the journal's publication principles and ethical guidelines.
Editors/Assistant Editors pay attention to the protection of human and animal rights in articles, emphasize the documentation of explicit consent from participants in studies subject to the article, and reject articles when ethical committee approval is not obtained for experimental research or studies involving surveys.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF REVIEWERS
Reviewer opinions are prioritized by the Editorial Board in deciding whether to publish a submitted article.
Reviewers must evaluate the work fairly and impartially, adhering to the double-blind peer review procedure.
Reviewers must adhere to the principle of confidentiality and are obliged not to use information obtained from the review process for personal gain; they should not share their reports or information about the article with others.
Reviewer evaluations should be objective and constructive. The academic adequacy of the article should be the primary consideration. Criticisms directed at the authors' personalities are not considered appropriate. Reviewers must provide explanations and arguments supporting their evaluations in the reviewer evaluation reports provided by the journal editors. Editors/Assistant Editors do not consider biased and personalized evaluations, nor unjustified approvals and rejections, and appoint new reviewers for articles in such situations.
Reviewers should not agree to evaluate articles that could result in personal or institutional conflicts of interest.
Reviewers, if they detect any actual or potential case of plagiarism, multiple publication, or simultaneous submission, must inform the journal editors.
Reviewers must conduct their evaluation impartially and confidentially. In accordance with this principle, they must destroy the articles they have reviewed after the evaluation process. Nationality, gender, religious beliefs, political views, and commercial concerns should not impair the academic impartiality of the evaluation.
Reviewers must evaluate the article they have accepted to review within the specified timeframe. To improve the academic quality of the article, reviewers' correction suggestions are forwarded to the authors, and if reviewers request, the corrections made by the author are forwarded to the reviewer.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE AUTHOR
Texts/works submitted to ieSBAD must be original and free of plagiarism. The responsibility for this rests entirely with the authors.
All forms of plagiarism, including improper transfers from an author's own publications, constitute a very serious ethical issue. The evaluation process for articles found to contain plagiarism is stopped. If plagiarism is detected after publication, Editors and Assistant Editors will take appropriate measures.
The author has the right to withdraw their article, provided they notify the journal's editorial board, until a decision on publication is made.
Authors should not use discriminatory language based on affiliations and identities such as gender, race, language, belief, culture, class, age, opinion, social group, and sexual orientation.
Works/articles must not violate the privacy and intellectual property rights of a third party.
Authors have an obligation to indicate all individuals who have contributed to their work. Individuals who have significantly contributed to their work should be listed as co-authors. A work cannot be published without the consent of all its authors.
The names of individuals who have not contributed to the article should not be listed as authors. It is not recommended to change author order, remove authors, or add authors for an article submitted for publication.
Authors must indicate if an earlier version of the work/text has been published in another medium. If the work, even if unpublished, has been compiled from a thesis or an unpublished scientific meeting presentation, this must be stated as a footnote on the first page.
Authors are responsible for acting in accordance with existing copyright laws.
If authors are asked for information or data regarding their articles during the evaluation process, they must submit the requested information to the journal editors.
Authors are responsible for implementing the correction suggestions of the reviewers and Editors/Assistant Editors. If the author disagrees with the suggestions of the reviewers or Editors/Assistant Editors, the author has the right to inform the journal editors of this situation, along with their justification.
Authors must submit to the journal editors the actions they have taken regarding reviewer evaluation suggestions, by entering them into the report sent by the journal editors.
All authors, in research articles, must disclose any financial and other types of conflicts of interest that could be perceived to influence the results or interpretation of that article. All sources of financial support received for the study must be clearly stated.
If an author discovers a serious error or inaccuracy in a published article, they must inform the journal editors without delay. In this case, the author is responsible for cooperating with the journal editors in retracting the article or publishing a correction to the article.
For research conducted and for clinical and experimental studies on humans and animals that require an ethical committee decision, separate ethical committee approval must have been obtained, and this approval must be stated and documented in the article.
