Munajat means prayer and supplication; as a literary concept, munajat is poetry that involves asking for forgiveness and help from God through prayer and supplication. In classical literature, munajat are written both as a part of the introduction of works and as an independent work. If it is an independent work, it is called a munajatnameh. The munajatnamehs are also generally written in the masnawi form, and they are considered as religious masnawi in terms of genre. In classical Eastern literature, as well as in classical Kurdish literature, many Sufi poets have produced works in this genre. This article attempts to briefly define munajat and the form of munajatnameh, as well as to point out its place in classical literature, and also to introduce the Munacatnameh of Mela Ehmedê Heyderî to the world of science. Our research reveals that there is no munacatnameh that has yet been identified and introduced in the field of classical Kurdish literature in Turkiye. Therefore, this article claims to be the first step towards filling the gap. Unless a previous munajatnameh is identified, Mela Ehmedê Heyderî’s Munajatnameh is the first independent munajatnamehs in the Kurmanci Kurdish. The aforementioned munajatnameh was described and analyzed point by point as stated in the conclusion of the article.
