Abstract
From the reading of A.J. Greimas, Structural Semantics (1976), we approach
the method of analysis that this semiotician applies to the literary text. Greimas
applies models such as “The actantial model” and “The narrative scheme” to the
literary text. But these same models also apply to other semiotic manifestations.
Consequently, Greimas’s analysis seems too general, neglecting several models
by analyzing the literary text, such as the type of text, genre, and writing in the
literary sense of the latter term. The meaning does not make sense if we abstract
the text from any modalization.
On the other hand, Greimas’ analyzes are relevant if we insert the literary text
into the universal form of meaning.
