Abstract

Turkiye ranks first in Europe in fatal work accidents. According to a study on the high-risk sectors, occupational safety specialists have a key role in overseeing the safety of workers. The purpose of this pilot study is to examine the impact of work-related stress and burnout on job satisfaction among occupational safety specialists. In this study, structural equation modelling and path analysis were to be used for the first time ever on this subject. 185 occupational safety specialist completed a web questionnaire that included sociodemographic data and specific scales related to job stress, burnout and job satisfaction. The results of the analysis showed that stress has positive effects on burnout. In contrast, it significantly negatively affects job satisfaction through depersonalization and emotional exhaustion. In addition, occupational safety technicians are more likely to experience work-related stress compared to class B occupational safety specialists. As a result of the study, from the perspective of occupational safety specialists and technicians, it is predicted that they will not be able to fulfill their responsibilities in their workplaces properly when we consider the decrease in per capita income together with job stress. Therefore, this scale study, which was conducted for the first time in Turkiye, sets an example for future studies and pioneers the development of better conditions for occupational safety specialists and technicians.

İşe Bağlı Stres, Tükenmişlik ve İş Tatmininin İş Güvenliği Uzmanlarına Etkisi: YEM ve Yol Analizi Yöntemlerinin Kullanılması

Year 2025, Volume: 37 Issue: 2, 153 - 165
https://doi.org/10.7240/jeps.1624129
