Postpartum Dönemdeki Kadınların Yenidoğan Taramalarına Yönelik Bilgi ve Tutumlarının Belirlenmesi

Abstract

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, postpartum dönemdeki kadınların yenidoğan
taramalarına yönelik bilgi ve tutumlarını belirlemektir.
Yöntem: Tanımlayıcı ve kesitsel tipteki bu araştırma Mayıs-Kasım 2022 tarihle
ri arasında Karadeniz bölgesinde bulunan bir hastanenin doğum ve kadın hastalık
ları kliniklerinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmaya postpartum 24-72 saat içerisin
de olan 293 kadın katılmıştır. Araştırma verileri Tanıtıcı Bilgi Formu, Yenidoğan
Tarama Testlerine Yönelik Bilgi Formu ve Yenidoğan Taramaları Hakkında Anne
Bilgi ve Tutumları Ölçeği kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde bağımsız
örneklem t-test ve tek yönlü varyans analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmaya başlama
dan önce etik kurul onayı ve kurum izni alınmıştır.
Bulgular: Araştırmaya dahil edilen kadınların yaş ortalaması 28.77±5.32’dir.
Kadınların %89.4’ünün düzenli gebelik takibi yaptırdığı ancak %55.3’ünün yeni
doğan tarama programı hakkında bilgi almadığı belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca %91.8’inin
yenidoğan tarama testlerinin çok önemli olduğunu düşündüğü ve %73’ünün yeni
doğan tarama programı kapsamında hangi hastalıklar olduğunu bilmediği saptan
mıştır. Kadınların “yenidoğan taramaları hakkında anne bilgi ve tutumları ölçeği”
toplam puan ortalaması 16.98±7.34, yenidoğan tarama testlerine ilişkin “annelerin
tutumu” alt boyut puan ortalaması 6.10±3.93, “kavramlar” alt boyut puan ortala
ması 5.42±2.48, “annelerin bilgi durumu” alt boyut puan ortalaması ise 5.45±3.04
olarak bulunmuştur. Kadınların yaş, eğitim düzeyi, ailede kalıtsal hastalık varlığı,
eşi ile akrabalık durumu ve yenidoğan taramalarına yönelik bilgi alma durumu ile
yenidoğan taramaları hakkındaki bilgi ve tutumları arasında anlamlı fark saptan
mıştır (p<0.05).
Sonuçlar ve Öneriler: Sonuçlar postpartum dönemdeki kadınların yenidoğan
taramalarına yönelik olumlu tutuma sahip olduklarını göstermiştir. Ancak kadın
ların büyük bir bölümü tarama programı kapsamında hangi testlerin yapıldığı ko
nusunda yeterli bilgiye sahip değildir. Prenatal dönemden itibaren anne adayları
nın yenidoğan tarama programı hakkında bilgilendirilmesi önerilmektedir.

Determination of the Knowledge and Attitudes of Women in the Postpartum Period Toward Newborn Screening

Abstract

Aim: This study aimed to determine the knowledge and attitudes of women in
the postpartum period towards newborn screening.
Methods: This descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted in the obs
tetrics and gynecology clinics of a hospital in the Black Sea region between May
and November 2022. The study included 293 women within 24-72 hours post
partum. The research data were collected using Introductory Information Form,
Information Form for Newborn Screening Tests, and Maternal Knowledge and At
titudes Scale About Newborn Screening. Independent sample t-test and one-way
ANOVA were used to analyze the data. Ethics committee approval and institutio
nal permission were obtained before starting the study.
Results: The mean age of the women was 28.77±5.32. It was determined that
89.4% of the women had regular pregnancy follow-ups, but 55.3% did not receive
information about the newborn screening program. It was also determined that
91.8% thought that newborn screening tests were very important, and 73% did not
know which diseases were covered by the newborn screening program. The total
mean score of the women on the “maternal knowledge and attitudes scale about
newborn screening” was 16.98±7.34, the mean score of the “maternal’ attitudes”
sub-dimension was 6.10±3.93, the mean score of the “concepts” sub-dimension
was 5.42±2.48, and the mean score of the “maternal’ knowledge” sub-dimension
was 5.45±3.04. A significant difference was found between women’s age, education,
presence of a hereditary disease in the family, being related to their spouses, and
information about newborn screening and their knowledge and attitudes about
newborn screening (p<0.05).
Conclusions and Recommendations: The results showed that women in the
postpartum period had a positive attitude towards newborn screening. However,
most women didn’t know which tests were performed in the screening program.
It is recommended that expectant mothers be informed about the newborn scree
ning program starting from the prenatal period.
