Abstract
The Stars Down to Earth, which can be translated into Turkish as Stars Descending to Earth, was written by Adorno to reveal the ideological meanings of astrology content in the media by analysing it through discourse analysis. As there is no Turkish translation of this work, this study aims to contribute to the Turkish social science literature and provide an analysis of the astrological content that frequently appears in the media. In this context, the concepts emphasised by Adorno throughout the work are explained in detail and their connection with the discipline of astrology is revealed. The focus of this study is to explain how astrology content in the media plays a social role through the individual and what kind of effect it has in the ideological context.
Abstract
Türkçe’ye Yeryüzüne İnen Yıldızlar olarak çevrilebilecek The Stars Down to Earth, Adorno tarafından, medyada yer alan astroloji içeriklerinin taşıdıkları ideolojik anlamların söylem analizi yöntemi ile incelenerek ortaya koymak amacıyla yazılmıştır. Eserin Türkçe çevirisi olmadığı için bu çalışma, Türkçe sosyal bilimler literatürüne katkı sağlamayı ve medyada sıklıkla yer alan astroloji içerikleri hakkında bir inceleme sunmayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu kapsamda, Adorno’nun eser boyunca üzerinde durduğu kavramlar detaylı olarak açıklanmış ve astroloji disiplini ile bağlantısı ortaya koyulmuştur. Medyada yer alan astroloji içeriklerinin birey üzerinden toplumsal açıdan nasıl bir rol üstlendiğini ve ideolojik bağlamda nasıl bir etkiye yol açtığını açıklamak bu çalışmanın odak noktasını oluşturmaktadır.
