Abstract

Especially surgery-related infections such as endophthalmitis are a major problem in ophthalmology clinics. Acute or chronic postoperative endophthalmitis may occur due to many factors that may be related to the conditions of the operating room environment, the surgical crew, the devices, the patient and the postoperative care. Although advances in surgical techniques provide great convenience to ophthalmologists, all intraocular surgeries carry a greater or lesser risk of infection. In addition, in recent years, intravitreal drug applications in the treatment of diabetes mellitus and age-related macular degeneration have increased considerably, increasing the possibility of postoperative infections.
