Abstract
The entry and recognition of John Maynard Keynes' thought in Turkey has been quite delayed. In particular, his masterpiece, The General Theory, was translated into Turkish exactly 23 years after it was published in English in 1936. This Turkish translation was not a complete translation and also not published in a book form. Unfortunately, later translation attempts were not sufficient for the greatness of The General Theory. Incorrect and careless translation makes it impossible to read the book in Turkish and can lead to misunderstanding of Keynes' thought.
This study aims to make a small contribution to the history of Turkish economic thought in the context of the Turkish adventure of The General Theory.

Abstract
John Maynard Keynes’in düşüncesinin Türkiye’ye girişi ve anlaşılması oldukça gecikmeli olmuştur. Özellikle onun başyapıtı Genel Teori 1936 yılında İngilizce yayınlanmasından tam 23 yıl sonra Türkçeye çevrilmiştir ve bu çeviri kitap olarak yayınlanmadığı gibi tam bir çeviri değildir. Daha sonra yapılmış çeviri denemeleri ne yazık ki Genel Teori’nin büyüklüğüne uygun yeterlilikte olmamıştır. Hatalı ve özensiz çeviri, kitabın Türkçe okunmasını imkansızlaştırdığı gibi Keynes’in düşüncesinin yanlış anlaşılmasına yol açabilmektedir.
Bu çalışma, Genel Teori’nin Türkçe serüveni bağlamında Türk iktisadı düşünce tarihine küçük bir katkıda bulunmayı amaçlamaktadır.
