Kabul ve Kararlılık Terapisi ile Metakognitif Terapinin Karşılaştırılması

Year 2025, Volume: 2 Issue: 2, 7 - 30, 25.04.2025

Abstract

Comparison of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Metacognitive Therapy

Year 2025, Volume: 2 Issue: 2, 7 - 30, 25.04.2025

Abstract

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Metacognitive Therapy (MCT) approaches are derived from the cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) tradition and focus on the impact of cognitive processes and beliefs on mental health. This review article aims to provide a synthesis by examining the relationship between Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Metacognitive Therapy (MCT) in more depth. These two therapeutic approaches share a common origin from the Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy tradition but can differ in terms of theoretical framework, therapeutic techniques, and the therapy process. In this text, similarities and differences between Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Metacognitive Therapy (MCT) are discussed in the context of fundamental philosophy, theoretical foundations, techniques used, and the therapeutic process. ACT focuses on developing psychological flexibility and enhancing acceptance and mindfulness in the face of challenging inner experiences. On the other hand, MCT targets metacognitive beliefs, focusing on thoughts about thoughts and examining how these beliefs may contribute to mental disorders. ACT and MCT are effective and complementary therapies in the treatment of mental disorders. The choice of therapy may vary depending on individual needs and symptoms. It is believed that this study will assist individuals seeking therapy, clinicians, and researchers working on clinical applications in getting an understanding of these two therapeutic approaches, as well as making decisions in practical applications and research design processes.
