Abstract
The press has had an important place in the awareness and publicity of societies from past to present. In parallel with the development of human history, press release activities have also developed. The movement towards the press in the Ottoman Empire began in the 19th century. As a requirement of Westernization, official and private newspapers were established during this period. The innovations that are desired to be realized at the state level have been transferred to the public through the press. The need for the press has increased in the National Struggle and the Republican Era. During these periods when the country was going through extraordinary processes, the press undertook an important mission and ensured that the developments in the battlefields reached the citizens. In this way, it is aimed to raise public awareness. In the Republican period, the press has been one of the areas where the most radical regulations were made. With the planned studies, journalism has been granted a professional status; at sthe same time, the Turkish press has been ensured to be located among the civilized states.
Abstract
Basın, geçmişten günümüze toplumların bilinçlendirilmesinde ve kamuoyu oluşturulmasında önemli bir yere sahip olmuştur. İnsanlık tarihinin gelişimine paralel olarak basın yayın faaliyetleri de gelişmiştir. Osmanlı Devleti’nde basına yönelik hareketlilik 19. yüzyılda başlamıştır. Batılılaşmanın bir gereği olarak bu dönemde resmî ve özel gazeteler kurulmuştur. Devlet kademesinde gerçekleştirmek istenen yenilikler, basın aracılığıyla halka aktarılmıştır. Basına duyulan ihtiyaç Millî Mücadele’de ve Cumhuriyet Dönemi’nde artmıştır. Yurdun olağanüstü süreçlerden geçtiği bu dönemlerde basın önemli bir misyon üstlenerek, savaş meydanlarında yaşanan gelişmelerin vatandaşlara ulaşmasını sağlamıştır. Bu şekilde halkın bilinçlendirilmesi hedeflenmiştir. Cumhuriyet Dönemi’nde basın, en radikal düzenlemelerin yapıldığı alanlardan biri olmuştur. Planlanan çalışmalarla gazeteciliğe bir meslek statüsü kazandırılmış; bununla birlikte Türk basınının, uygar devletlerarasında yer alması sağlanmıştır.
