DUYGU DÜZENLEME GÜÇLÜĞÜ İLE BİLİŞSEL ESNEKLİK ARASINDAKİ İLİŞKİDE ÖZ-ANLAYIŞIN ARACILIK ROLÜ

Year 2025, Volume: 27 Issue: Ek, 297 - 314
https://doi.org/10.26468/trakyasobed.1494372

Abstract

THE MEDIATING ROLE OF SELF-COMPASSION IN THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN DIFFICULTY IN EMOTION REGULATION AND COGNITIVE FLEXIBILITY

Year 2025, Volume: 27 Issue: Ek, 297 - 314
https://doi.org/10.26468/trakyasobed.1494372

Abstract

In our research, the mediating role of self-compassion between emotion dysregulation and cognitive flexibility is investigated. It is aimed to contribute to the literature by raising awareness about cognitive flexibility, emotion dysregulation and self-compassion. In this descriptive and cross-sectional study, Cognitive Flexibility, Difficulty in Emotion Regulation and Self-Compassion scales were used. SPSS 22.0 programme and LİSREL 8.80 programmes were used in order to evaluate the data collected via e-mail. In the measurement model, the relationship between emotion regulation and cognitive flexibility (r -.81; p<.001), the relationship between self-compassioning and cognitive flexibility (r .96; p<.001) and the relationship between emotion regulation and self-compassionding (r -79; p<.001) were found. When the structural model is examined, the relationship between emotion regulation difficulty and cognitive flexibility in the measurement model is r=-.81; While p<.001, in the structural model this relationship was β = -.16; It was found to be p>.001.
The findings reveal that full mediating role of self-compassioning in the relationship between emotion dysregulation and cognitive flexibility. Individuals' experiencing emotion dysregulation decreases their cognitive flexibility by negatively affecting their self-compassionding self-compassionding. In conclusion, the findings of this study provide a starting point for a deeper understanding of the role of self-compassionding in the relationship between emotion dysregulation and cognitive flexibility.
