Abstract
Yakın zamanlara kadar ülkemizde arkeolojik kazı yerlerinin korunarak sergilenmesi, Halet Çambel'in gerçekleştirdiği Karatepe-Aslantaş Açık Hava Müzesi örneği dışında, yalnızca anıtsal kalıntıların bulunduğu geç dönem ören yerleriyle sınırlıydı. Kazıldıkları dönemde büyük ilgi gören, ilkokul kitaplarına dahi aktarılan Alacahöyük, Alişar gibi kazı yerleri, ya da buluntularıyla tarihöncesi kültürlere ilgi ve merak duymayan kamuoyunda bile heyecan yaratan Çatalhöyük, Troya, yalnızca müzelerde eserleriyle sergilenmiş, kazı alanlarının gezilmesi, doğal ve kültürel ortamı içinde yaşanılan mekanın buluntularıyla birlikte bir bütün olarak algılanma beklentisi gündeme gelmemişti.
