Abstract

This study examined the relationships between cyber dating abuse and self-perception among university students. A correlational survey model was used in this study. The population of the study consisted of students between the ages of 19-26 who were studying at a university in the Central Anatolia region in the 2024-2025 academic year and who had a cyber-dating relationship of at least 3 months. The participants of the study consisted of a total of 735 volunteer university students, 450 female and 285 male. Personal information form, Cyber Dating Abuse Scale and Self Theory Scale were used as data collection tools. Data analysis was carried out using SPSS 22 package program. Independent samples t-test was performed to examine the variables according to gender. Pearson Product Moment Correlation and Hierarchical Regression Analysis were used in line with the purpose of the study. According to the research results, men have higher scores for cyber dating abuse and exposure to cyber dating abuse than women. Self-perception does not differ by gender. Regression analysis results showed that self-perception is a negative predictor of cyber dating abuse perpetration and exposure to cyber dating abuse.

Abstract

Üniversite öğrencileriyle yapılan bu çalışmada, siber flört istismarı uygulama ve siber flört istismarına maruz kalma ile benlik algısı arasındaki ilişkiler incelenmiştir. Bu çalışmada ilişkisel tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın evreni 2024-2025 eğitim-öğretim yılında İç Anadolu bölgesinde bir üniversitede öğrenim gören 19-26 yaş aralığındaki en az 3 aylık siber flört ilişkisi olan öğrencilerden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmanın katılımcıları 450 kadın ve 285 erkek olmak üzere toplam 735 gönüllü üniversite öğrencisinden oluşmaktadır. Kişisel bilgi formu, Siber Flört İstismarı Ölçeği ve Benlik Kuramı Ölçeği veri toplama aracı olarak kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizi SPSS 22 paket programı aracılığıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Değişkenleri cinsiyete göre incelemek için bağımsız örneklemler için t-testi yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın amacı doğrultusunda Pearson Momentler Çarpımı Korelasyonu ve Hiyerarşik Regresyon Analizi kullanılmıştır. Sonuçlar, erkeklerin siber flört istismarı uygulama ve siber flört istismarına maruz kalma puanlarının kadınlara göre daha yüksek olduğunu göstermiştir. Benlik algısı ise cinsiyete göre farklılık göstermemektedir. Regresyon analizi sonuçları, benlik algısının siber flört istismarı uygulama ve siber flört istismarına maruz kalmanın negatif yordayıcısı olduğunu göstermiştir.
