The Journal of Ankara University Faculty of Medicine accepts original articles, case reports and invited reviews. Articles that are submitted are screened for plagiarism using the plagiarism detection software (iThenticate, Turnitin) reports, which are provided by the authors. The articles’ with iThenticate reports under 25% with no sign of plagiarism are assigned to the editorial board. The articles are initially evaluated in terms of relevance to field of medicine, methodology and originality. The editorial board has the authority to reject articles that are not within the scope of the Journal’s or do not comply with the Journal’s author instructions, without a reviewer's evaluation. After the initial evaluation by the Editorial Board, the relevant articles are forwarded to at least two reviewers, who are experienced in the field, as determined by the associate editors. Before the associate editor makes a final judgment, reviewers suggestions and recommendations are taken into account.
In the journal, pre-evaluation process takes upto 15 days, the evaluation of the articles by the reviewers takes about 30 - 60 days. It takes 90-120 days for publication from submission.
