There is a significant connection between literature and feminism. Literature is a medium for conveying social messages. In this way, feminism is a vital topic for educating the community. Jane Austen is a writer who is often regarded as one of the most important figures in the relationship between literature and feminism. Her literary works have a significant impact on readers' comprehension of how women were treated in Britain during the nineteenth century. Her publications serve as a guide for evaluating history and literature through the lens of feminism and recognizing social injustices. Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility is significant in this regard since it effectively conveys social inequities through free indirect discourse. The free indirect discourse window in Sense and Sensibility conveys to the reader the characters, storyline, and influence of British nineteenth-century society. The book depicts feminist phenomena through the characters' inner feelings, providing a deeper knowledge of women's socioeconomic status at the time. Thus, the purpose of this research paper is to demonstrate the power of language by employing free indirect discourse as a literary instrument to portray women's roles in nineteenth-century Britain.
