Oregano essential oil has an important place among the essential oils traded in the world due to its high biological activity and its use in various fields. Today, approximately 90% of the oregano supplied from Turkey, which has a large share in the worlds oregano foreign trade, is species belonging to the Origanum genus. In this study, it was aimed to determine the essential oil ratios and components of different origanum species (O. vulgare, O. onites, O. syriacum, O. majorana, O. vogelii) grown in Çukurova conditions. As a result of the research in which the essential oils of five different Origanum species, including one endemic, were examined, the essential oil ratios of the species were determined as O. vulgare 5.63%, O. onites 5.13%, O. syriacum 4.8%, O. majorana 2.8%, O. vogelii 1.4%. While carvacrol and/or thymol are the main components of the species essential oils, only it. O. majorana species were determined to form trans sabinen hydrate and terpinen-4-ol.
