Teachers' Psychological Processes After the Earthquake: A Journey of Hope, Meaning, and Growth

Öz

The purpose of this study is to examine the posttraumatic growth, meaning in life, and hope levels of teachers who experienced the earthquake and continued to work in the earthquake region. The research was designed in the relational screening model in which the mediation effect was examined from structural equation models. The study group of the research consists of 284 teachers who lived in the regions that experienced the February 6 earthquake with its devastating effects and continued to work in these regions in the following period. The Meaning in Life Scale, Trait Hope Scale, and Posttraumatic Growth Inventory were used as data collection instruments in the study. The data were analyzed using SPSS 25 and AMOS 24 programs. The results showed that there was a relationship between hope and posttraumatic growth in teachers, and meaning in life partially mediated this relationship. The results were discussed in relation to the literature and necessary suggestions were made.

Öğretmenlerin Deprem Sonrası Psikolojik Süreçleri: Umut, Anlam ve Büyüme Yolculuğu

Öz

Bu çalışmanın amacı depremi yaşayan ve sonrasında deprem bölgesinde çalışmaya devam eden öğretmenlerin travma sonrası büyüme, yaşamda anlam ve umut düzeylerini incelemektir. Araştırma yapısal eşitlik modellerinden aracılık etkisinin incelendiği ilişkisel tarama modelinde tasarlanmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 6 Şubat depremini, depremi yıkıcı etkileriyle birlikte hisseden bölgelerde yaşayan ve daha sonraki süreçte de bu bölgelerde görev yapmaya devam eden 284 öğretmen oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma kapsamında veri toplama araçları olarak yaşamda anlam ölçeği, sürekli umut ölçeği ve travma sonrası büyüme envanteri kullanılmıştır. Veriler SPSS 25 ve AMOS 24 programlarıyla analiz edilmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar öğretmenlerde umut ile travma sonrası büyüme arasında bir ilişki olduğunu ve yaşamda anlamın bu ilişkiye kısmi olarak aracılık ettiğini göstermiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar literatür bağlamında tartışılmış ve gerekli önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
