Adaptation of Healthcare Professional Knowledge of Radiation Protection Scale into Turkish

Yıl 2025, Cilt: 7 Sayı: 1, 1 - 17, 25.04.2025

Öz

This study aimed to test the validity and reliability of the "Healthcare Professional Knowledge of Radiation Protection Scale" and adapt it to the Turkish language. This study was conducted using a methodological design online with 348 nurses between August and October 2021. The data were collected by the "Healthcare Professional Knowledge of Radiation Protection Scale", which consists of 33 items and three sub-dimensions. The validity of the scale was evaluated with language, content, and construct validity. Davis technique was used for content validity and confirmatory factor analysis was used for construct validity. For reliability of the scale, item analysis, Cronbach Alpha Coefficient, and Guttman Split-Half values were used. The content validity index of the scale was determined as 0.97 after analyzing 14 expert opinions. According to confirmatory factor analysis, it was seen that the three sub-dimensions of the scale fitted well. It was determined that the scale item-total correlation score coefficients were between r= 0.61 and 0.87. Also, the Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient was 0.98 on the total scale, and the Guttman Split-Half value was 0.95. This study showed that the "Healthcare Professional Knowledge of Radiation Protection Scale" is a valid and reliable measurement tool for healthcare workers. It is recommended to assess the validity and reliability of this scale in different occupational groups and students in health systems.
