Disposal of electronic devices and components, namely e-waste, is becoming a growing problem due to its negative effects on the environment and human health. This study conducted a systematic review of 350 articles in the Web of Science database, identifying key themes such as circular economy, sustainability, and urban mining. The study also identified new trends focusing on new topics that will guide future research, such as sustainable consumption. The study proposes a conceptual framework that will guide governments, consumers, and companies in addressing the e-waste problem. It emphasizes that policy makers should facilitate decision-making processes regarding e-waste, consumers should understand the consequences of how they dispose of their e-waste, and companies should view e-waste as a source of value rather than waste. This article presents a comprehensive theoretical research framework to increase awareness and knowledge about environmentally sound e-waste disposal behaviors and to guide future research in this area.
