Bibliometric analysis of scientific publications in the field of school culture

Öz

School culture is defined as a set of values, beliefs, norms and traditions shared by school members. The aim of this study is to evaluate scientific publications such as articles, books and papers published in the field of school culture between 1980-2024 and to analyse the trends in this field bibliometrically. By searching the Web of Science database with the keyword “school culture”, 2466 publications were reached. The publications were modelled visually using VOSviewer and R programs. The study revealed that the most common year of publication in the field of school culture was 2021, the most preferred type of publication was article, and the most common language of publication was English. In addition, it was seen that the majority of the publications were in the field of education, the most commonly used keyword was ‘school culture’, the most cited authors and source was Alyson Adams, Dorene Ross, and Vicki Vescio, ‘A review of research on the impact of professional learning communities on teaching practice and student learning’, the most cited scientific journal was ‘Teaching and Teacher Education’, the most cited country was the United States, the most cited university was Ghent University, and the most cited university was the University of Florida. It is thought that the cooperation between different disciplines, journals and universities in the field of school culture will contribute to the development of the field.

Okul kültürü alanındaki bilimsel yayınların bibliyometrik analizi

Öz

Okul kültürü, okul üyeleri tarafından paylaşılan değer, inanç, norm ve gelenekler bütünü olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Bu araştırmanın amacı, 1980-2024 yılları arasında okul kültürü alanında yayınlanan makale, kitap ve bildiri gibi bilimsel yayınları değerlendirmek ve bu alandaki eğilimleri bibliyometrik olarak analiz etmektir. “School culture” anahtar kelimesiyle Web of Science veri tabanında arama yapılarak 2466 yayına ulaşılmıştır. Yayınlar VOSviewer ve R programları kullanılarak görsel olarak modellenmiştir. Araştırma, okul kültürü alanında en fazla yayın yapılan yılın 2021 olduğunu, en çok tercih edilen yayın türünün makale olduğunu ve en yaygın yayın dilinin İngilizce olduğunu ortaya koymuştur. Ayrıca yayınların çoğunluğunun eğitim alanında yapıldığı, en çok kullanılan anahtar kelimenin “school culture” olduğu, en fazla atıf alan yazarlar ve kaynağın Alyson Adams, Dorene Ross ve Vicki Vescio, “A review of research on the impact of professional learning communities on teaching practice and student learning” makalesi, en çok atıf alan bilimsel derginin “Teaching and Teacher Education” dergisi, en çok yayın yapan ve atıf alan ülkenin Amerika Birleşik Devletleri, en çok yayın yapan üniversitenin Ghent Üniversitesi ve en çok atıf alan üniversitenin Florida Üniversitesi olduğu görülmüştür. Okul kültürü alanında yapılacak farklı disiplinler, dergi ve üniversiteler arasındaki iş birliğinin, alanın gelişimine katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir.
