Historical buildings cannot be used with their original functions over time due to reasons such as negativities in the urbanization process, changes in social life, socio-cultural and external factors. In the context of conservation, the re-functionalization of historical buildings is an important practice in keeping the cultural and architectural values of the city alive. With this conservation approach where values are kept alive, the building continues its life and at the same time economic and cultural continuity is ensured. However, in the arrangements to be made while defining new uses for the buildings, the existing space fiction of the building should be taken into consideration, and the most appropriate function should be given to the building with the least intervention. In line with this approach, the study focuses on the re-functioning process of “Doğruözler Mansion”, which reflects the architectural texture of Osmaniye and is one of the first conservation efforts in the city. The building, which was located in Osmaniye bazaar and which lost its function as a residence, was transferred to Osmaniye Municipality through purchase in the process. In 2015, the historical building, which was restored to host the guests of Osmaniye Municipality, remained idle due to its lack of use and maintenance. The mansion was planned to be transformed into a “Culinary Museum” in 2022 with the re-functioning method and revised restoration projects were prepared. In the study, it is aimed to reveal the spatial harmony of the building, which is planned to be reused as a Kitchen Museum, with the new function and to draw attention to the importance of function selection in reuse. In this direction, three steps were used in the study: analysis of the existing structure, needs analysis to determine the spatial requirements for the applied function, and testing the suitability of the building for the new function. In line with the method followed in the research and the analyses made within this scope; it has emerged that Doğruözler Mansion should be re-evaluated within the scope of re-functionalization. From this point of view, a new function was proposed in the study in accordance with the original use of the area and with the least intervention to the building. In line with the research findings, the new function is envisaged as a small-scale library with book sales, reading room and research rooms in accordance with the spatial organization of the building. In the study, it is aimed to develop a perspective on the issue of bringing historical buildings into our cultural life with new functions to be imposed with the example of “Doğruözler Mansion”. In this context, the adaptation of historical buildings to the function in their reuse is questioned through “Doğruözler Mansion” with environmental and architectural scale analyses and it is aimed to create a basis for new functions to be given to historical buildings.
