Ağız, Diş ve Çene Cerrahisi ile Periodontoloji Alanlarında Uzmanlık veya Doktora Eğitimi Almakta Olan veya Eğitimi Tamamlamış Diş Hekimlerinin Atık Yönetimi Bilgi Düzeylerinin Karşılaştırılması

Öz

Giriş: Diş hekimliği klinik/polikliniklerinde; biyolojik tıbbi atıklar ile genel atıklar ortaya çıkar. Bu atıkların ayrıştırılması ve uygun bertaraf veya geri dönüşüm birimlerine gönderilmesi için hekimlerin iyi derecede atık bilgisine sahip olmaları gereklidir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, diş klinik/polikliniklerde çene cerrahisi ve periodontoloji uzman/doktoralı diş hekimlerinin ve asistanlarının atık bilgi düzeylerinin belirlenmesi ve karşılaştırılmasıdır.
Materyal ve Metot: Çalışma; üniversite veya özel ağız ve diş sağlığı merkezi/hastanesi kliniklerinde çalışan periodontoloji ve çene cerrahisi uzman/doktoralı diş hekimleri ile bu eğitimlerine devam eden asistanlara yönelik yapılan çevrimiçi bir anket platformu aracılığıyla toplanan veriler ile yapılmıştır. Çalışmada dört grup kullanılmış ve anketler her grupta ilk 20’şer kişi olmak üzere 80 kişiye doldurtulmuştur. Değerlendirmelerde istatistik anlamlılık düzeyi %5 olarak alınmış ve hesaplamalar için SPSS (ver:21) istatistik paket programından yararlanılmıştır.
Bulgular: Çalışmaya katılan bireylerin; cinsiyet, çalışma süresi, eğitim derecesi ve unvanlarına göre atık bilgi düzeylerinin değerlendirilmesinde anlamlı farklılık bulunmamıştır.
Sonuç: Sonuç olarak, uzman/doktoralı diş hekimleri ya da bu eğitimleri alan diş hekimlerinin atık bilgi düzeylerinin en üst seviyede olması beklenir. Bu sebeple hangi branş olursa olsun tüm diş hekimleri zaman zaman atıklar konusunda bilgilerini güncellemelidir.

Comparison of Waste Management Knowledge Levels Among Dentists Who are Currently Pursuing or Have Completed Specialty or Doctoral Education in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and Periodontology

Öz

Objective: In dentistry clinics/polyclinics; biological medical waste and general waste are generated. In order to separate these wastes and send them to appropriate disposal or recycling units, doctors must have a good level of waste knowledge. The aim of this study is to determine and compare the waste knowledge levels of research assistants and specialists /dentist with PhD degrees at oral and maxillofacial surgery and periodontics working in dental clinics/polyclinics.
Material and Method: The study was conducted with data collected through an online survey platform for dentists with PhD degrees at periodontics and oral surgery working in university or private oral and dental health center/hospital clinics and research assistants continuing their education. Four groups were used in the study and the surveys were filled out by 80 people, the first 20 participants in each group. The level of statistical significance was accepted as 5% in data evaluation and SPSS (ver:21) statistical package program was used for calculations.
Results: According to gender, working period, education level and title; no significant difference was found in the evaluation of waste knowledge levels of individuals participating in the study.
Conclusion: As a result, specialists/ dentist with PhD degrees who have received these trainings are expected to have the highest level of waste knowledge. For this reason, all dentists, regardless of their branch, should update their knowledge about waste periodically.
