PUBLICATION PRINCIPLES

The International Social Sciences Journal of Asian Studies, published electronically (E-ISSN: 3023-5561) and in print (ISSN: 2667-6419) by the Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University Asian Studies Application and Research Center, has been continuing its process since 2017 with the aim of increasing and disseminating studies that contribute to the national and international scientific development of all disciplines in the field of social and human sciences, specifically focused on "Asian Studies" in Turkey and around the world.

Publication Frequency
The journal is published at least twice a year, in Spring and Autumn.

Language of Publication
The journal accepts studies written in Turkish and English. Submitted studies must be prepared in a clear and comprehensible manner, in accordance with the grammar rules and scientific literature of the language in which they are written. Publications that do not meet these criteria will not be considered for evaluation.

Evaluation of Articles
Articles submitted for publication are reviewed by the Editorial Board (field editor, writing and language editor) in terms of publication principles and sent to two experts in the relevant field for evaluation. The names of the authors are not disclosed to the reviewers, and vice versa. Reports are kept for 3 years. If one of the referee reports is positive and the other is negative, the article is sent to a third referee, or the Editorial Board may make a final decision by reviewing the referee reports. Authors must consider the criticisms and suggestions of the referees and the Editorial Board. They have the right to object with reasons for the points they do not agree with. Articles sent back to the authors for corrections must be returned to the journal within one month at the latest after the necessary corrections are made. The revised text may be re-examined by the referees who requested the changes if deemed necessary. Articles that are not accepted for publication are returned to the authors. Articles that have not been published elsewhere, are original, not under review in another journal, approved by each author for submission and content, and have ethical declaration information added, are accepted for evaluation.

Ethical Declaration
At the end of the article, ethical committee approval, researchers' contribution rate, support and acknowledgment declaration, conflict of interest declaration must be included. The Editorial Board adds the following information as a table for each article before publication:

AUTHORS' CONTRIBUTION LEVELS: First Author %...; Second Author %...
ETHICAL COMMITTEE APPROVAL: Ethical committee approval is not required for this study.

Plagiarism Policy
The International Social Sciences Journal of Asian Studies requires authors to upload a "Plagiarism Report" obtained from plagiarism programs such as "iThenticate" or "Turnitin" before the evaluation process begins. The evaluation process starts after the similarity rate in the Plagiarism Report and the conformity of the study to the writing rules and principles are examined by the Editorial Board. The similarity rate in the Plagiarism Report should not exceed 20%; studies with a similarity rate higher than 20% are sent back to the authors for correction, and if not corrected, they are rejected.

Abstract:
The abstract should be written in 10-point italic font, with single line spacing, and should not exceed 500 words.

Keywords: At least five and at most seven Turkish keywords reflecting the topics of the studies should be added. Only the first letter of each keyword should be capitalized, and all words should be italicized.

English Title: The English title should be written in 10-point bold and italic font, with the first letter of each word capitalized.

Abstract: The text written in the Turkish "Öz" section should be provided in English.

English Keywords: At least five and at most seven English keywords reflecting the topics of the studies should be given in the same order and meaning as the Turkish keywords. Only the first letter of each keyword should be capitalized, and all words should be italicized.

Page Numbers: Page numbers should be placed in the footer, aligned to the bottom right and left corners, in 9-point font.

Text and Paragraph: In the main text, subheadings should be written in 11-point bold font, with the first letters of words capitalized. The text should be in 11-point font, justified. Margins should be 2.5 cm from the top, bottom, right, and left. Line spacing should be 3 nk. Paragraphs should start with a 0.8 cm indent from the left, and paragraph spacing should be 6 nk.

Book, Journal, etc. Names: In the text, names of books, journals, congresses, conferences, symposiums, and panels should be written in italics. For example: “Sources of Central Asian Turkish History, Belleten, International Human and Society Congress, From Past to Present Aleppo and Turkmens Conference, International Folklore Symposium” etc.

Use of Numbers: Numerical expressions are written in words at the beginning of sentences; subsequent ones are written in numerals. For example: “Of the thirty theses commissioned, twenty were related to Turkish history, and the remaining 10 were related to Mongol history.”

Use of Abbreviations: Abbreviations are placed in parentheses when used for the first time in the text; they are not used in subsequent instances. For example: “As a result, in 1957, Turkey had to apply to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to cover external debts. The IMF became an important figure in the Turkish economy with this borrowing.” B.C., “B.C.” and A.D., “A.D.”

Use of Quotes in the Text: Short quotes in the text should be given in quotation marks and italics (“…”). Quotes less than five lines should be written within the line, and quotes longer than five lines should be written as a block, indented one centimeter from the right and left, with single line spacing.

Use of Visual Materials: When using photographs, diagrams, etc., in the text, sources must be cited. Legal responsibility for permissions or copyrights lies entirely with the authors.

Footnotes and References: Submitted studies should be prepared as follows for the reference system, citation format, and bibliography:
All references in the main text should be given using an in-text citation system instead of footnotes. In-text references should include the author(s)'s surname, publication year, and page numbers as follows:

Footnotes should be numbered on the relevant page, not placed at the end of the text. Footnotes should be written in 9-point font, single-spaced, justified, with a paragraph indent of 0.5 cm.
For general references in the text, if the entire work is being referred to, it is sufficient to write (author's surname, year). For example: (Togan, 1981).
If a specific page is quoted or relevant ideas are taken from a specific part, the source should be written with the page as follows: (Köker, 1998: 42).
Works by the same author from the same year are written as follows: (Zizek, 2009a) and (Zizek, 2009b).
If the number of authors is between three and five, all names should be written for the first reference; afterward, only the first author is mentioned. For example, the first time a source is cited (Kejanlıoğlu, Adaklı & Çelenk, 2004) and later (Kejanlıoğlu et al., 2004).
If a source with two authors is cited in the text, both authors' names are mentioned each time; for works with more than two authors, all authors are mentioned the first time, and only the first author is mentioned in subsequent references. For example: (Kafesoğlu, Yıldız, and Merçil, 1998).
If the number of authors is three or more, only the first name and “et al.” are used even the first time (Arat et al., 1991).
When using a reprinted old source in the text, a slash (/) is used. For example: “Freud (1923/1961) first suggested in his work that slips of the tongue in everyday language are a type of expression of repressed representations in the subconscious.”
Apart from the sources shown in the text, the classical footnote method should be used for necessary explanations, and automatic numbering should be used. The format for explanations should be: justified, left and right indent: 3 nk space before and after, single line spacing.
References: At the end of the article, all sources used in the article must be listed. Authors should be listed alphabetically by surname. The following rules should be followed when citing references:

The author's surname and the first letter of their name should be written in capital letters, and the title of the work should be in italics if it is a book, or in quotation marks if it is an article. After the title, the publication place and year for books, and the journal name, year, issue number, and volume number for articles should be provided.
