Information for Reviewers

Manuscripts submitted for review are original studies that have not been previously published, are not under consideration elsewhere, and have been approved by the authors.

The Journal of Values in Health Sciences screens all submissions using reliable plagiarism detection tools to prevent academic misconduct. Manuscripts that successfully pass the plagiarism check are meticulously examined by the Editor-in-Chief for originality, scientific methodology, importance of the topic, and relevance to the scope of the journal.

The Editor-in-Chief ensures that the evaluation process is impartial and fair, regardless of the authors’ ethnicity, gender, nationality, religious belief, or political orientation. Manuscripts deemed appropriate are assigned to a Field Editor who is an expert in the subject matter.
The Field Editor forwards the manuscript to at least two national or international referees. The publication decision is made by the Field Editor based on the reviewers' recommendations and the revisions made by the authors. A minimum of two positive referee reports is required for a manuscript to be accepted.

Reviewers should consider the following criteria during the evaluation process:

  • Does the manuscript present original hypotheses and provide significant new information?
  • Does the abstract accurately and clearly reflect the content of the article?
  • Are the methods used consistent and described in sufficient detail?
  • Do the findings support the interpretations and conclusions?
  • Are the references adequate and up-to-date in relation to the current literature?
  • Is the language and overall quality of the writing satisfactory?

Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of all information related to the manuscript until publication. In case of any suspected copyright infringement or plagiarism, reviewers must immediately notify the editor.

If reviewers do not feel qualified to evaluate the manuscript or cannot meet the deadline, they should inform the editor and withdraw from the review process.

Editors explicitly inform reviewers that all submitted manuscripts are the intellectual property of the authors and that the review process is strictly confidential. Reviewers and editorial board members must not share or discuss manuscripts with third parties.

Reviewer identities are kept strictly confidential, and maintaining this confidentiality is of utmost importance.
