Abstract

Abstract

Today, university websites play a crucial role in effectively presenting institutional identity and facilitating access to information. This study aims to evaluate the usability of 7 university websites in Turkey. The research employs a Design Guidelines-Based Usability Testing Approach to analyze key criteria such as accessibility, navigation, page loading speed, and content organization of the websites. The evaluation is based on the standards outlined in the Public Internet Sites Guide (KAMİS), assessing the compliance of the websites with specific usability principles. The results indicate that the websites generally adhere to KAMİS standards; however, certain areas, such as mobile performance and the functionality of search fields, require improvement. Particularly, long page load times on mobile devices and the lack of search result filtering were identified as key factors negatively affecting user experience. In this regard, it is recommended that university websites undergo periodic usability tests, with user feedback collected and regular updates made based on the findings. In conclusion, having user-friendly university websites that provide quick access to information and enhance user satisfaction is of critical importance.
