He was born in 1959 in Trabzon Of. He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Trabzon. He entered (today's Gazi-AHBVU) AITIA-MBMYO - Department of Business Administration and Accounting in 1977 and completed it in 1981 and completed his military service between 1982-1983. He worked in the private sector in Ankara between 1983-1984. He was appointed to Istanbul Technical University Sakarya Vocational School as an administrative officer in November 1984. He started his master's degree in Istanbul University SBE Tourism Department in 1987 and completed it in 1989. He started his doctorate in Tourism at the same institute in 1990 and completed it in 1994. He was appointed as a lecturer in ITU- Sakarya Vocational School Tourism Management Department in 1989. He was appointed to Sakarya University Sakarya Vocational School Tourism Program, which was established in 1992, as an Assist. He continued his duty as Assoc. In 1988, he was appointed as Assistant Professor to Sapanca Vocational School of the same university. In 2000, he was appointed as Assistant Professor to Sakarya University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Tourism Management, and in 2012, he was appointed as Assistant Professor to the Faculty of Business Administration. In 2014, he received the title of ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR as a result of the Interuniversity Board exams and was then appointed as Associate Professor at the same faculty. In 2016, he was appointed as ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR to SAU- Faculty of Tourism, which was established with the division of Sakarya University. In 2018, he was appointed to the Tourism Guidance Department of the newly established Sakarya University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Tourism. In 2020, he was appointed as PROFESSOR to the Tourism Guidance Department of the same faculty. He is married with three children. Burhanettin Zengin, who has served as Department and Program Head, Director, Assistant Director, Department Head, Board Member in his nearly 40 years of education and teaching life, has been serving as the Director of Sapanca Vocational School since 2021, and has taken part in approximately 12 projects and supervised 55 postgraduate theses, 21 of which are doctoral and 32 of which are master's. During this period, he has more than 350 scientific works, including those presented and published in SSCI, ESCI, international field indexed, nationally refereed journals, congresses and conferences, and also national and international book and chapter authorships. His areas of expertise include Tourism and Travel Management, Guidance, Tourism Marketing, Tourism Accounting and Finance.
Güney Çetin Gürkan is a professor of Management and Strategy at the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management in Trakya University. She holds a Bachelors degree in Tourism Management from Dokuz Eylül University (1999), a Masters degree from Trakya University (2006) and a PhD in Management and Organization from Istanbul University (2012). Her research focuses on innovation, digital transformation, and contemporary management techniques in the tourism industry. Dr. Gürkan has published extensively on these topics and teaches various courses, including digitalization and technology in the tourism sector, human resources management, organizational behavior at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Yuksel Ekinci is a Professor of Marketing at the Faculty of Business and Law, University of Portsmouth. His research focuses on destination branding, Consumer-Based Brand Equity, and global marketing strategy. His scholarly work has been widely published in leading academic journals, including the Journal of Travel Research, Annals of Tourism Research, Tourism Analysis, Tourism Management, Journal of Business Research, European Journal of Marketing, and Psychology & Marketing. Additionally, Yuksel serves on the editorial boards of several prominent journals in tourism and marketing, such as the Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services and the Journal of Travel Research.
Dr. Özen Kirant Yozcu worked in different positions in the sales and marketing department in the tourism and hospitality industry between 1994- 2003. Dr. Yozcu gained her master’s degree from Dokuz Eylül University, Tourism Administration Graduate Program and PhD degree from Ege University Faculty of Communication - Public Relations and Publicity Doctoral Degree. She is an Associate Professor from 2023. Dr. Yozcu worked at Bogazici University Tourism Administration Department between 2007-2023 as an instructor. She has been living in Porto since 2018 and is an adjunct professor in ISAG- European Business School and Research Centre in Business Sciences and Tourism (CICET - FCVC). Her research interests include hotel management, marketing and marketing communication management, luxury management and event management. She also consults and is involved in many local and international corporate projects. She worked at Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) for the preparation of MICE Training Materials Project. Besides she has many studies about sustainable and green events.
Prof. Dr. M. Cihan Yavuz is a faculty member at Çukurova University, Department of Tourism Management. Yavuz holds a BA in Economics, an MA in Business Administration (Marketing), and a PhD. His research interests include city and destination branding, tourism planning, and sustainable economic development. He contributes to university-city collaborations in his field. In recent years, he has been working on stakeholder-supported smart city technologies and applications to help improve city branding, tourism planning, and sustainable economic development.
Prof. Dr. Fevzi Serkan Özdemir,
is a professor at Ankara University, Faculty of Political Science, Department of Business Administration, specializing in Accounting and Finance. He earned his Ph.D. from Ankara University, where he examined the alignment of financial statement information, produced according to the Uniform Accounting System and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), with the qualitative characteristic of relevance, using financial failure predictions. His doctoral thesis was awarded the Second Best Doctoral Thesis by the Economic Research Foundation in 2011.
During his doctoral studies and afterward, Prof. Özdemir worked as a visiting scholar at New York University, where he continued his research on accounting information systems, financial reporting and analysis, accounting theory and education, international accounting, and corporate sustainability.
Prof. Özdemir has published numerous articles in national and international journals, as well as presented papers at various scientific conferences. He has supervised many master's and doctoral theses in the areas of financial reporting, sustainability, and financial performance across different universities. In addition to his academic contributions as an author and editor in several books, Prof. Özdemir serves as a reviewer and editorial board member for several academic journals. He also coordinates Accounting Search Conferences and International Insurance, Banking, and Finance Symposiums.
Since 2008, he has held various editorial roles at the Journal of Accounting and Taxation Studies, including Editorial Board Secretary, Associate Editor, and Editor. He currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief.
Prof. Özdemir also holds certifications as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Independent Auditor and serves as the Vice President of the Assurance Services Association.
