A. Publication Ethics Principles
B. Article Submission Process
1. Submission through the DergiPark System: Authors must submit their manuscripts exclusively through the DergiPark system. An author may not submit more than one manuscript for the same themed issue. It must be clearly indicated whether the submission falls within the theme of the issue (“within the theme”) or outside of it (“outside the theme”). ViraVerita E-Journal considers texts that contain racist, sexist, or other discriminatory discourse as hate speech and reserves the right to reject such content without initiating the peer review process.
2. Submission Deadlines: The submission deadline is February 15 for the Spring issue and August 15 for the Fall issue. The editorial board may revise these deadlines by announcing any changes through the DergiPark system.
3. Template and Writing Guidelines: Manuscripts must be prepared following the article template and writing guidelines of ViraVerita E-Journal. Submissions that fail to meet these requirements will not be considered for peer review.
4. Manuscript and Author Information Form: At the time of submission, the fully completed
“Manuscript and Author Information Form” (Title Page) must be uploaded to the system as a supplementary file, together with the manuscript prepared in accordance with the double-blind review process.
5. Word Count and Abstract Guidelines: Manuscripts must be between 4,000 and 20,000 words in length, inclusive of endnotes and references. Each submission must include two abstracts: one in Turkish and one in English, each between 150 and 200 words. Following each abstract, authors must provide five (5) keywords that accurately reflect the content of the study.
6. Plagiarism Policy: It is mandatory to submit a similarity (plagiarism) report for all manuscripts submitted to our journal. Manuscripts are screened through the intihal.net software integrated into the DergiPark system, and similarity rates are checked prior to evaluation. Excluding the references and endnotes, a maximum similarity rate of 10% is accepted for original manuscripts, and 20% for manuscripts derived from theses. Submissions that exceed these limits or that do not include a similarity report will not be considered for the preliminary evaluation process.
During manuscript submission, the processed (detailed) similarity report generated via intihal.net through the DergiPark system will be reviewed. If the intihal.net report is not available, detailed reports obtained from internationally recognized plagiarism detection software such as Turnitin or iThenticate will be accepted. Summary reports will not be considered.
Issue editors reserve the right to conduct additional plagiarism checks, content similarity assessments, or ethical evaluations at any stage of the publication process. For all questions or issues regarding the similarity report, the relevant issue editor must be contacted directly.
7. Author Information: Authors are required to provide complete and accurate author information in the DergiPark system, including full names as they should appear in publication, current institutional affiliations (if applicable), active contact details for correspondence, and valid ORCID iDs linked to each contributing author. During submission, the manuscript prepared in accordance with the double-blind review process must be uploaded to the system together with the fully completed
“Manuscript and Author Information Form” as a supplementary file.
8. Review Timeline: The review process is expected to be completed within two (2) months following the submission of the manuscript to the DergiPark system. However, this timeframe may be extended due to various factors, including delays in receiving reviewer reports or additional time required for authors to implement requested revisions.
9. Manuscript Format Requirements: Manuscripts must be prepared in Microsoft Word format and structured to comply with the double-blind peer review process. Accordingly, authors must ensure that no identifying information—such as names or institutional affiliations—appears anywhere in the manuscript file, including footnotes, endnotes, or the document properties of the Word file.
10. Editorial Pre-Evaluation and Suitability Decision: Issue Editors subject submitted manuscripts to a preliminary evaluation prior to the peer review process in order to assess their conformity with the theme of the issue as well as the aims and scope of the journal. Manuscripts submitted as part of the issue theme but deemed unsuitable in terms of content may be rejected by the Issue Editor, provided that the reasons are clearly stated.
If a submitted manuscript is considered unpublishable in the journal despite potential revisions in terms of content or form, it may be rejected by the Issue Editor with a justified explanation. In particular, submissions that violate ethical principles or the journal’s editorial policy may be rejected—either prior to the peer review process or after it—following the evaluation of the author’s revisions.
The number of non-thematic articles to be published in ViraVerita E-Journal is limited to a maximum of four (4) per issue. Issue Editors reserve the right to make changes to the selection of non-thematic articles, provided this limit is not exceeded.
11. Review Process and File Tracking: As part of the review process, authors are required to make all revisions in response to reviewer or editor feedback using the “Track Changes” feature in Microsoft Word. This method ensures that all modifications can be tracked transparently and contributes to the proper conduct of the evaluation process. Therefore, the revised file must be uploaded to the system in a format where all changes are clearly visible.
C. Required Documents
1. Copyright Agreement Form: Authors must complete, sign, and upload the
Copyright Agreement Form to the system at the time of manuscript submission.
2. Ethics Committee Approval: For studies requiring ethics committee approval, the approval document must also be uploaded to the system.
4. Plagiarism Detection Report: At the time of submission, detailed (processed) similarity reports from intihal.net are reviewed. If Turnitin or iThenticate is used, a detailed report must be uploaded as a supplementary file. Summary reports will not be accepted.
