The Mediating Role of Hope in the Relationship Between Religiosity and Self-Hatred

Öz

This study aims to examine the relationship between intrinsic religious motivation and self-hatred, and the mediating role of integrative hope in this relationship. The study group of this quantitatively designed study consists of 100 male and 279 female participants aged 20 to 60 living in different cities of Türkiye. The data were obtained by using Self-Hatred Scale, Intrinsic Religious Motivation Scale, and Integrative Hope Scale. SPSS 28 program and SPSS PROCESS 4.2 were used to process the data. In the study, a significant negative relationship was found between intrinsic religious motivation and self-hatred, a significant positive relationship was found between intrinsic religious motivation and integrative hope, and a significant negative relationship was found between integrative hope and self-hatred. Additionally, mediation analysis showed that hope plays a fully mediating role in the relationship between intrinsic religious motivation and self-hatred.

Dindarlık ile Öz-Nefret Arasındaki İlişkide Umudun Aracı Rolü

Öz

Bu çalışma içsel dinî motivasyon ile öz-nefret arasındaki ilişkiyi ve bütünleyici umut duygusunun bu ilişkideki aracı rolünü incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Nicel desende tasarlanan araştırmanın örneklemini Türkiye’nin farklı şehirlerinde ikamet eden 20-60 yaş aralığındaki 100’ü erkek, 279’u kadın olmak üzere toplam 379 katılımcı oluşturmaktadır. Veriler; Öz-Nefret Ölçeği, İçsel Dinî Motivasyon Ölçeği ve Bütünleyici Umut Ölçeği kullanılarak elde edilmiştir. Elde edilen verilerin analizinde SPSS 28 ve PROCESS Macro 4.2 kullanılmıştır. Bulgular, içsel dinî motivasyon ile öz-nefret arasında negatif yönde, içsel dinî motivasyon ile bütünleyici umut arasında pozitif yönde, bütünleyici umut ile öz-nefret arasında ise negatif yönde anlamlı ilişkiler olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır. Aracılık analizi; bütünleyici umudun, içsel dinî motivasyon ile öz-nefret arasındaki ilişkide tam aracılık rolü oynadığını göstermektedir.
