Ethical Principles and Publication Policy
The International Journal of Agriculture, Environment and Food Sciences is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and integrity in line with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), Council of Science Editors (CSE), European Association of Science Editors (EASE), and National Information Standards Organization (NISO). The journal adheres to the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing (https://doaj.org/bestpractice).
This policy outlines the ethical responsibilities and standards for authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher, ensuring transparency, objectivity, and accountability throughout the publication process.
General Ethical Standards
-The journal publishes only original, high-quality research that has not been previously published or submitted elsewhere.
- Plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, duplicate submission, and unethical experimentation are strictly prohibited.
- All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software (e.g., iThenticate, intihal.net), and manuscripts with a similarity index above 24% are returned for revision or rejected.
- In accordance with the DergiPark system, a similarity report generated via intihal.net is automatically created and considered during the evaluation process.
- All authors must ensure that submitted studies comply with ethical standards related to human and animal research, informed consent, and institutional approvals.
Editorial and Peer Review Process
- All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process by at least two independent experts in the relevant field.
- The editorial board is responsible for the final decision regarding acceptance or rejection.
- The journal ensures editorial independence and manages conflicts of interest transparently.
- Manuscripts submitted by members of the editorial board are handled independently to ensure impartiality.
Responsibilities of Authors
- Authors must ensure that their work is original, properly cited, and free from plagiarism or research misconduct.
-Authors must disclose all conflicts of interest and funding sources.
- All co-authors must have significantly contributed to the research and approved the final manuscript.
- Authors must adhere to responsible reporting standards, including transparent methodology, data availability, and ethical approvals.
- Authors are required to participate in the peer review process by responding to reviewer comments and revising their manuscripts accordingly.
- In cases of significant error discovery post-publication, authors must cooperate in issuing retractions or corrections.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
- Reviewers must provide objective, constructive, and timely evaluations.
- Reviews should avoid personal criticism and maintain confidentiality.
- Reviewers must declare any potential conflicts of interest and decline to review if necessary.
- Reviewers must identify unethical practices such as plagiarism, redundant publication, or data manipulation.
Responsibilities of Editors
- Editors must ensure fair and unbiased editorial decisions based solely on the manuscript’s scientific merit and relevance.
- Editors are responsible for maintaining confidentiality and managing conflicts of interest.
- Editors should address all ethical complaints and allegations following COPE flowcharts.
- Editors are expected to promote academic integrity, prevent publication malpractice, and ensure the journal’s alignment with ethical standards.
Publisher’s Role
- The publisher, together with the editorial board, is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the scientific record.
- The publisher is committed to investigating and addressing cases of ethical misconduct, including plagiarism, fraudulent research, and manipulation of the publication process.
Research Involving Humans and Animals
- Studies involving human participants must include a statement confirming informed consent and ethical committee approval.
- Research involving animals must follow institutional and international guidelines and include ethical approval documentation.
- The privacy rights of subjects must always be respected.
Conflict of Interest and Funding Disclosure
- All authors, reviewers, and editors must declare any financial or non-financial conflict of interest.
- Funding sources must be clearly acknowledged in the manuscript, including grant numbers or funding body details.
Open Access and Licensing
- All articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0).
- This license permits non-commercial sharing and adaptation with appropriate credit to the original authors.
- The journal is fully open access and does not charge article processing fees, but an Editorial Processing Charge (EPC) is required prior to review.
Retractions, Corrections, and Misconduct Handling
In cases of confirmed research misconduct, redundant publication, or ethical violations, the journal will take appropriate corrective actions including:
- Retraction of the article
- Publishing corrections or expressions of concern
- Notification of institutions or funders when necessary
The editorial board follows COPE’s guidelines and flowcharts for managing such cases.
Appeals and Complaints
- Authors or reviewers may submit appeals or complaints related to editorial decisions, peer review, or ethical concerns.
- Appeals must be sent in writing to the editorial office: editor@jaefs.com
- If unresolved, an ombudsperson or an external editor may be appointed for independent review.
