The aim of values education is to ensure that the individual grows up with supreme values that are accepted on a universal and social scale. Among these values, those that ensure the unity and solidarity of society, such as justice, respect, patriotism, love, and responsibility, stand out. An individual who has these lofty values contributes to the future of the society in which he lives. Textbooks in schools, which are one of the important pillars of education, take the first place in the teaching of values education. The aim of this research is to reveal the level at which the root values, which are very important to the curriculum, are found in the sixth grade religious culture and Ethics knowledge textbook units. In this study, the sixth grade Religious Culture and Ethics Knowledge Course textbook was examined on the basis of ten root values that are aimed at being gained by students through values education in Turkey. The document analysis method, which is one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the research. In the study, the place of root values in the textbook was determined, and sub-values, related attitudes, and behaviors were also taken into account. All the outcomes of each unit were evaluated one by one, and the data obtained were shown in the form of a table, and their frequencies and percentages were given. As a result of the research, it was seen that the most repeated root value in the textbook was "responsibility" and the least repeated root value was "self-control.”
