This study aims to examine the effect of social capital on frugal innovation, which is a new concept, and to evaluate the mediating role of knowledge sharing in this context. The research data consists of data collected from 309 managers working in companies operating in the manufacturing sector in Kocaeli. The collected data were analysed using AMOS and SPSS Macro package programs. As a result of the analysis, it was seen that social capital has a positive and significant effect on frugal innovation. In addition, it was concluded that knowledge sharing is a mediating variable in the relationship between social capital and frugal innovation. Both direct and indirect effects of social capital highlight how social networks and partnerships play a critical role in innovative processes. Understanding how knowledge sharing mediates the relationship between social capital and frugal innovation can provide important insights for enhancing creativity and productivity, especially in resource-constrained environments. These findings reveal that organizations and managers who want to realize frugal innovation should give importance to social capital and knowledge sharing, and have a structure where social capital is high and knowledge sharing is encouraged.
