Sociological Thought is a peer-reviewed journal that focuses on sociological research and studies but also tries to include studies in the field of social sciences.
Sociological Thought aims to include the works of academics who are breathing in the world of sociology and social sciences, as well as the works of students who are continuing their graduate education, and to provide a shelter for the products of every pen connoisseur who wants to exist "with their words" in sociology.

Sociological Thought is a journal that specifically focuses on sociological research and investigations, but also includes research and studies conducted with a multidisciplinary approach from other social sciences. Studies submitted to the journal are submitted to the evaluation of at least two referees by the decision of the Editorial Board. The Editorial Board may have the work reviewed by more than two referees when it deems necessary. The journal has the right to make corrections, publish or not publish the articles.

- After the manuscript is submitted through the Manuscript Tracking System from the personal page entered with the e-mail address and password, the referee process can be followed from the same system. After this stage, reports from all referees should be waited for the corrections to be made. Because authors can add corrections to the system only once. When a referee makes the correction requested by one referee and the manuscript is added to the system, if a second referee requests a correction at the next stage, the requested corrections will not be made.
- Title: It should be a title that is compatible with the content, best expresses it, and should be written in 12 pt. in bold letters.
- Author name(s) and address: Information such as the author's name, title, institution where he/she works and e-mail address where he/she can be reached should not be included under the title of the article. Since author names can be seen by the system administrator, this information will be added to the manuscript by the editor. When the manuscripts are added to the system, it should be ensured that no information belonging to the author is included in the manuscript. This is important in order to allow the referees who will review the article to move more easily.
- Abstract: At the beginning of the article, there should be an abstract in Turkish and English, which briefly and succinctly expresses the subject and consists of a maximum of 150-200 words. One line space should be left under the abstract and keywords consisting of at least 3 and at most 5 words should be given. Abstract text should be written in 9 pt, single line spacing. Abstract texts should be written 1cm from the right and left.
- For articles submitted in Turkish, a 750-1000 word abstract in English and for articles submitted in English, a 750-1000 word abstract in Turkish should be attached. This abstract should include subheadings (Introduction, Method, Findings (Results), Conclusion and Discussion, etc.). The abstract should be written after the bibliography section, starting from a new page. Manuscripts that do not include an extended abstract will not be evaluated. The abstract should be written in 10 point size, single-spaced, using Calibri font. The extended abstract will also be evaluated according to whether the word count limitations are complied with.
- Main Text: It should be written in MS Word programme, using Calibri font, 10 pt, 1.5 line spacing. The article can be up to 35 pages. Pages should not be numbered.
- Paragraphs should not be started in the text of the article, and paragraph breaks should be marked by leaving 1 line (12 pt) space (Paragraph-Indent and Spacing in Office, Spacing-Before-0; After-12 pt).
- All information in the footnote should be written in 9 pt, single-spaced.
- Section Headings: In the article, main, intermediate and subheadings can be used to provide an organised transfer of information; headings should be numbered.
- Tables and Figures: Tables should be numbered and titled. Tables should be placed where they should be in the text. Figures should be prepared for colour printing. Figure numbers and names should be written centrally just below the figure.
- Illustrations: High resolution, print quality scanned images should be given in their places in the text. The rules for naming pictures should follow the rules for figures and charts.
- Quotations and References: APA standards should be followed in the articles to be sent to our journal (https://apastyle.apa.org). Works that do not comply with these rules will be returned to the author for correction. Quotations exceeding a few sentences in the text should be written 1 cm. from the right and left.

At the end of the text, under the heading REFERENCES, the references cited should be listed by surname.

OUR JOURNAL POLICY ON ETHICAL PRINCIPLES AND RESEARCH PUBLICATION ETHICS;

ETHICAL PRINCIPLES
The recommendations of ICMJE (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors) and the International Standards for Editors and Authors of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) should be taken into consideration in scientific manuscripts submitted to the journal.

RESEARCH PUBLICATION ETHICS

1-Studies requiring Ethics Committee approval (studies requiring questionnaire or scale application, including interviews and observations; documents, pictures, questionnaires, etc. developed by others and requiring permission for use) (For research conducted in all branches of science, including social sciences, and for clinical and experimental human and animal studies requiring ethics committee approval, separate ethics committee approval must be obtained, this approval must be specified and documented in the article.), the necessary permissions from ethics committees or commissions must be obtained before the research is carried out, and these must be specified in the article content or presented as an attachment. In the absence of these permissions, the publication will be returned to the author at the preliminary review stage.

2- In studies requiring ETHICAL COMMITTEE PERMISSION, information about the permission (name of the committee, date and number) should be included on the FIRST page of the article and at the BOTTOM of the page. In addition, in case presentations, information on the signature of the informed consent/assent form must be included in the method section of the article. The responsibility for these belongs to the author. If the permissions requested in applied research are not submitted, the article will be returned without evaluation.

3-Copyright regulations must be complied with for the intellectual and artistic works used.

4-Raw data related to the researches in the referee evaluations must be submitted when requested by the referees. It is obligatory to provide the data as necessary after the publication of the article.

Ethical Rules for Authors

Authors guarantee that their work is original and when they include ideas, language, pictures, graphics and tables of other researchers in their work, they must indicate this as a citation. Quoting without acknowledging the source is plagiarism.
Each author mentioned in the study is equally responsible for the content of the study. It is unacceptable that the researcher's name is not included in the study even though he/she has contributed to the study or that his/her name is unfairly included even though he/she has not contributed to the study.
Authors should remain faithful to the findings of their research. It is out of question to change the findings, to fabricate findings and results, and to conduct research based on them. Tampering with data and materials, deleting, omitting, or skipping the interpretation of difficult to handle data is a breach of trust.
Simultaneous submission of the work to journals is out of the question. Authors cannot submit their previously published works to the journal.

Ethical Rules for Reviewers

Reviewers should be aware that the evaluation process is confidential and should not be shared with external third parties.
Reviewers should submit an objective, impartial, scientific, clear and constructive evaluation report on the manuscript within the specified time limit.
Referee reports will also include an evaluation of the scientific quality of the article (the topic addressed, the methodology used, or the appropriate use of relevant literature). This evaluation, whether positive or negative, must be made about the content.
Referees should notify the editor if it is found that the manuscript has been plagiarised or has been previously published elsewhere.

OUR JOURNAL POLICY ON CO-AUTHORSHIP

The studies to be included in our journal may be prepared by one or more authors. In studies with more than one author, the authors' names should be ranked according to their contributions to the study and the “Copyright transfer form” should have the wet signatures of all authors and these signatures should be according to the order of authors in the study. The Copyright Transfer form will be requested later from the authors of the articles that are decided to be published. When submitting an article, do not send it.

ETHICS COMMITTEE APPROVAL

In line with ULAKBIM 2020 criteria, ethics committee approval must be obtained for clinical and experimental human and animal research in all fields, including Social Sciences, and this approval must be stated and documented in the article. The name, date and number of the ethics committee approval should be included on the first page and at the bottom of the article.

Studies requiring ethics committee approval are listed below:
1. Any qualitative or quantitative research in which interview, focus group study, observation, experiment, survey and interview techniques are used and data are collected accordingly,
2. The use of humans or animals for experimental and other scientific purposes,
3. Clinical research on humans and animals,
4. Retrospective studies in accordance with the personal data protection law.

In case reports submitted to the journal, it is important to include information that the voluntary consent/assent form has been signed.

Studies that do not require Ethics Committee Approval:

In studies conducted before 2020 with data obtained before 2020 (the date of data collection should be given in the method section), in studies obtained from master's / doctoral studies with data collected before 2020 (should be specified as a footnote), in paper studies with data collected and presented before 2020 (should be specified as a footnote), in studies submitted to the journal before 2020 and in review studies, ethics committee approval is not required.

OUR JOURNAL POLICY ON ARTICLE SIMILARITY REPORT AND SIMILARITY RATIO

Candidate articles should be submitted with an originality report obtained from an academic plagiarism prevention programme (e.g. iThenticate, intihal.net, etc.). This rate is accepted up to 20%. Papers with a similarity rate above 20% will be returned at the preliminary control stage.
